Dr. Telthorst practices all phases of general dentistry except orthodontics. We concentrate on restorative, cosmetic, preventative and family dentistry. We also provide periodontal, endodontic, and oral surgery treatments.

crown1Restore your beautiful smile with tooth-colored fillings. Tooth colored fillings are done with a material called composite resin, which help insulate and seal a tooth better than metal fillings. We have not placed a silver metal amalgam filling in nearly 30 years.

Crowns and Bridges are made with a special white ceramic material called Zirconia, which eliminates the use of dark metal as a base. This gets rid of that black line at your gums which is so common with porcelain to metal crowns. Zirconia is incredibly strong, and aesthetic!

crown3Veneers are a thin porcelain covering that gets bonded to the front of your tooth. This puts you and the Doctor in control of the size, shape, and color of your teeth. While veneers can be done on all of your front teeth for that perfect “Hollywood” smile, sometimes just one or two veneers can easily eliminate flaws or imperfections that make you feel self-conscious.

Implants are quickly becoming the treatment of choice to replace missing teeth. Dr. Telthorst can use the same Zirconia base in restoring implants to create a more natural appearance for your smile.

Perhaps the biggest breakthrough in our success with natural looking crowns stems from our extensive use of clinical photography. Enhanced communication with our lab using professional photographs means more lifelike results the first time. All lab work is performed by experienced technicians located here in St. Louis.

Bleaching is a popular way to lighten the color of grey or yellow teeth. Dr. Telthorst prefers an at-home tray system to brighten your teeth gradually. Rapid bleaching with strong chemicals and heat producing lights are far more likely to leave teeth extremely sensitive afterward. Milder chemicals used sparingly over many days reduce sensitivity and give you greater control of the final shade.

The Doctor also routinely performs other dental services including root canals, extractions (including wisdom teeth), full and partial dentures, and the treatment of TMJ disorders and gum disease.

One of the most important things we do is to introduce children, as young as age 3, to modern dentistry. Fear of going to the dentist often has its origins in childhood and can lead to a lifetime of problems. A gentle touch and easy introduction can teach children at an early age that there is nothing to fear about going to the dentist
